I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the State of New York. I received my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Thereafter I completed a post-graduate program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis. Currently I am pursuing training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).
I strongly believe in the healing benefits of psychotherapy. I view therapy as a process through which we explore the issues that confront you, place them in a context and develop strategies for change. By engaging in this process not only do we learn new ways of coping or getting “unstuck” but we also develop a more genuine relationship to ourselves, others and the world in general.
I am trained in various types of psychotherapeutic interventions and theoretical approaches, which I flexibly adapt to meet your unique needs and further your progress. I primarily practice Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, which focuses on helping clients understand and fully experience emotions that have been denied or avoided because the emotions felt overwhelming. By developing the ability to feel and fully experience previously warded-off emotions, clients expand their emotional range, which increases their ability to cope in a greater range of circumstances. I also use concepts and strategies from other orientations, particularly psychodynamic psychotherapy. I work well with people who want to address issues of shame and self-esteem, relationships, purpose, stress and managing emotions.
I am proud of my combination of psychological training, unique life experiences, skills and perspectives which inform my understanding of human behavior and how I approach treatment. I am pleased to bring all of that into my work with you.
